Lend Louie a Hand Campaign
Thankyou for visiting Louie’s Go Fund Me page. We are hoping to raise £13,000 so Louie can get a Hero Arm.
Louie is 7 years old and is football mad! We found out at a gender scan at 16 weeks that Louie was missing his right hand, we will never forget the sonographer saying ‘ I’ve found something wrong with your baby.’ This then led to the rest of the pregnancy feeling stressed and worried as we went from specialist to specialist trying to find out if there were any other things wrong with our baby. Fortunately Louie was a perfectly healthy baby other than missing his right hand.
Louie has always been so determined and resilient when it comes to everyday tasks that we all take for granted, such as doing up zips, tying shoe laces and cutting up food. He has found a way to do the majority of things but as he was ‘meant’ to be right handed he has had the added challenge of having to not only teach himself to do something one handed but to do it with his non-dominant hand.
Louie got invited to an Open Bionics Experience day recently, after having many different prosthetics in the past and struggling with them as they were either too heavy or not functional, we weren’t expecting Louie to be interested in the Hero Arm but when he tried and made the hand move his face light up!
He has told everyone he is getting a ‘robot arm’, he also has said how good it will be to be
able to pour his own drink with ease and carry things in both hands as opposed to having balance items against his chest.
The Hero Arm will give Louie more confidence in everyday tasks and hopefully give him the
independence he is now craving!
If you could please support us with our fundraising for Louie we would really appreciate it.
We are raising money through The Open Bionics Foundation and every donation will help Louie get his Hero Arm. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
