Lennie Spady Fundraiser

Some of you know Lennie as a friend, as the Dad of one of the Spady boys, or the carpenter you call when you need to get some work done on your house. He's a brother, grandpa, and husband as well. He spent time on the road with his son Adam as he battled cancer for so many years traveling with him to places like New York, Mexico, and Chicago as he sought treatment for this horrible disease and saw first hand what cancer, and the treatments that go along with it, can do to a person.
Shortly after Adam passed away 4 years ago, Lennie was diagnosed with Follicular Lymphoma. He sought alternative treatments and seemed to be successful and thought he had it taken care of before it got ahold of him. Earlier this year, he started having back pain and not feeling well. After finally going to the doctor, the diagnosis was that the Lymphoma was back. He immediately started a juice fast among other natural remedies in hope he could replicate his success again, but the pain lingered on. He suffered a fall due to Adam's dog pulling him down and the pain was getting worse, and wasn't going away. He got weaker and the days got more painful and sleepless.
Earlier in April his son Jon and his wife Amber, who were back helping take care of him, drove him and Teri to his son Troy and Lynn's house in Omaha with a plan to see doctors at UNMC, but a day later he ended up in the ER on 4/6 after waking up not being able to walk without assistance. After an MRI, by the afternoon he was on the operating table getting part of a tumor removed that had wrapped itself around his spinal cord, ultimately pushing it out of alignment causing the nerve issues he was experiencing.
The diagnosis came back that it was the Lymphoma which was now Follicular and Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma (DLBCL). It is an aggressive tumor that in this case, was between his shoulder blades and wrapped around his spine along with some other areas that showed up in the PET scan. He began a chemotherapy treatment plan called CHOP on 4/11 and is expected to have 4-6 three week cycles which will last until the end of July/first part of August. He and Teri are blessed to be able to stay at the new American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Omaha while undergoing these treatments.
The doctors say there is a 2 in 3 chance of success in the treatment. His first week was difficult and in undergoing this treatment he is doing something he never thought he would do because of the effects of the treatment he saw first hand with his son Adam. This has been a huge "pill to swallow" so to speak and he needs the encouragement and prayers of many to continue his treatment plan in hope that it will be a success.
While he largely retired and hasn't worked on a regular basis for some time, Teri still works full time but has been unable to the past month as she is his primary caregiver that must stay at Hope Lodge during his treatments. Medicare should pay for the medical bills, but assistance with what they don't pay for and the day to day living expense and regular bills that come in are going to become a stress neither of them need at this time since they likely will be in Omaha for the foreseeable future.
Your help would go a long way in helping with his treatment success both physically and mentally. Please consider donating and/or sending him a card with well wishes and a message of positivity and hope. Or, if you are in the Omaha area consider stopping by to say hi so he can see a caring smiling face. The address for Hope Lodge is: 8030 Farnam Dr, Omaha, NE 68114
Thank you all in advance for your prayers and help!
