LENNY ON THE ROAD

Donation protected
It’s time to get back in the saddle.

Of a vehicle!

My name is Lenny and I'm a writer x performer x professional model for the past 6+ years. I've loved driving and traveling for as long as I can remember.

In the past 3 years, I lived 14 months with a van, then 14 months without it.

What I learned is my specific slice of life is infinitely better on the move.

I’m ready to get back in the driver’s seat literally and metaphorically.

To make more of my own plans & art with the support of greater mobility.

A car represents the freedom to journey.

On my own instinct. On my own timeline.

To actually pursue opportunities that would require me to move on a moment’s notice but are only accessible with a vehicle.

And I need your help!

All of my current income is going directly to the purchase itself. Not only is my budget minimal, but it's all the money I have.

Very little can be bought for a few grand that's not a total gamble, and I'd like to try my best to find something solid considering I’d like to make it around the country and back a few times.

I’d love to raise this budget to at least $5000.

Donations of any amount are honorable and appreciated whether it’s $5, $25, $50, $100, $500, $1000, or all $5000.

The bigger my budget, the more reliable the vessel.

The bigger my budget, the sooner I can hit the road to create things with interesting collaborators new and old.

The bigger my budget, the more comfortably I can cover the logistics of the buying process itself -- inspections, registration, fixing any immediate issues, gas on my first trip!

It all adds up! That’s the beauty of crowdfunding :)

We’re meeting the goal together.

The car means a lot, but your support means everything!

Additionally accepting help in the form of connections to cars for sale, as well as any useful mechanical knowledge. And good luck vibes always :)

I am ideally trying to buy a Mini Van or SUV in Las Vegas or Arizona as soon as possible.

However, will fly anywhere for fantastic wheels!

Respectable wheels of any kind are the most important factor.

BONUS CONTENT :: FOR THOSE WHO LIKE THE WHOLE STORY ~~

After 7 years of hardcore living and working in New York City including 8 months of early pandemic lockdown, I hit the road with a friend in September 2020 through both force and desire of circumstance. Departing at midnight, we then traveled 21 states, 12,000 miles, for over 4 months together in her car.

We mostly lived outside in tents all over the West from Wyoming down to Arizona and hiked a lot. It was rugged and feral. We were essentially homeless/homefree yet on a mission...cuz New Yorkers, lol.

At the start of 2021, we'd made it to California and, officially having made it to the other side of the country, departed our joint travels.

I stayed in California, still homeless/homefree & bought my own van that I converted for living.

I intended to continue traveling around to collaborate with art collectives around the country and find queer land projects and art residencies to live/work on.

The world had other plans and things aligned for me creatively to stay in Los Angeles and co-write, produce, and perform a semi-autobiographical play as part of the 2021 Hollywood Fringe Festival.

This was a huge accomplishment and stepping stone to learn some major lessons that have propelled me forward on both my artistic & healing journey.

By the end of 2021, I was ready to take my life on the road again. So I left California for Arizona, the first stop (of course!) to visit my dear road trip friend who had landed there since our departure.

In a beautiful yet tragic twist, my beloved van home died shortly after arriving in Sedona. (RIP MONA).

By this point, I was so worn out and weary. I went back to New York City for the first time in 15 months, blessed with the couches and extra beds of friends, to confront my past life and my storage unit.

When I got there, I found out, in a grand realization of how irreversibly I'd changed, that I resonated with just 25% of it. "It" being my stuff, and the city itself. So I scattered my belongings like ashes around Brooklyn, delivering my past life to new owners, old friends & community who could give them a new life.

Still living on wind and a prayer, I left New York City again, at midnight, with yet another friend in their car, with the remainder of my belongings. We were bound for New Orleans for Mardis Gras 2022.

I didn’t plan to move to New Orleans, I thought I would stay for a month, make some money, buy a car, and carry on.

But again, the world had some other plans.

I've now home-based in New Orleans, in an actual home ;), since early 2022.

New Orleans has held me very dearly.

I've taken care of my soul in ways that are inexplicable but ever so regenerative after the trip that came before.

As it turns out, however, a car is still crucial to my life!

Even while I live inside a house again.

I've made being car-less work with flying colors, with a ton of generosity from others -- borrowing friend's cars and being blessed by friend's housing.

But it's been very challenging to find the right work and social experiences to be truly resourced without my own set of wheels.

With much more clarity and certainty, nourishment and flourishment, for my career sake and my sanity, I am ready to get back to a flow that includes greater mobility and more art-making.

A set of trusty wheels means my everyday life will be wildly more engaged whether I’m on the road or at home.

And probably, a lot more entertaining for all of you as well, since I'll be having 100x the adventures to share with you :)
