Leo Medina, the smallest family member
Donation protected
We are family friends of the Medinas.
On March 14th, while on a routine neighborhood walk, Leo a 5-pound Maltese was bitten and attacked by a 70-pound German Shepard that escaped from its home. Leo was rushed to the Coral Springs Animal Emergency Hospital, where the doctors and neurologist concluded that his spine was broken from the horrible incident.
It has been a difficult evening and the family had a very tough decision to make between putting him down or facing the unexpected cost of the immediate surgery expenses so Leo could continue to live. The surgery and the associated medical expenses will cost $22,000, which includes an invasive surgery to repair his spine as well as clearing out any possible infections which will require necessary bloodwork and X-ray to ensure he can handle the surgery, along with medications and physical therapy post-surgery.
This was a devastating unexpected shock to the family and friends since he is loved by many! Leo is the sunshine of the neighborhood and always puts on a smile as he is always in a positive and loving spirit with kisses and tail wags to share with everyone. He is a young and vibrant pup that is always been by his mom's side as a companion dog since the day he was born.
Please help contribute to saving his life. We hope by raising the funds, the family can focus their energy on spending time with Leo and his post-operative recovery, and we can all help give back the happiness he has given to the world.
