Leo's Cancer Journey
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Stacy and I am fundraising for my love Leo. In April of 2022, he was diagnosed with stage 4 Colon cancer that metastasized to his abdomen, it's called Peritoneal Carcinomatosis. He has been on Chemo starting in May of 2022. He started on FOLFOX which was a combination of two kinds of chemo. Leucovorin which is folic acid is used to enhance the effectiveness of the chemo drugs. He was on Fluorouracil and Oxaliplatin. He would go in for a 3-hour transfusion then go home with a pump he would wear for 3 days that constantly pumped the chemo, he would go to work. He was working all through this process. He was very tired. Every 3 months they would do a PET to see what the cancer was doing. All this time we were looking for a surgeon to do a HIPEC procedure to debulk the cancer tumors and then baste his abdomen with chemo for like 1 1/2 hours to help kill the cancer cells. We finally found a surgeon after talking to one in South Carolina, he just was not ready to see patients yet due to moving there from Tennessee. We decided to go with a Doctor here in Baton Rouge. On February 3, 2023, the doctor did a scope on Leo's abdomen to take a look to see what his cancer looked like. Before this procedure, Leo was at a score of 17 from the last laparoscopy in December of 2022. This doctor now rated Leos's cancer at a 29. Dr. Mo said no other doctor would do any kind of surgery due to how much cancer has spread since December and the period in which it has spread. We are now waiting on MD Anderson to see if there are any trials Leo can join, in hopes something could shrink the tumors. He is now at home on short-term disability. He has no energy and does not even get up off the couch. Leo has been a go-getter from the time we met which was in 2003. He has adopted my 2 younger kids and has been their dad since 2014. Leo and I have been married going on 19 years on 2/14!! He has provided for us and now it is our turn to help and support him. I work however my job (I'm a private investigator, so I'm self-employed) I can't get work due to anyone wanting me out on a job and then have to leave if something happens to Leo. We need help with bills and if MD Anderson calls help getting back and forth to Texas. What we had money-wise has now been used and I could just really use the help to get my husband through one of the toughest journeys we have had to go through.
If anyone donates to Leo we will use it to help keep the house note paid and the lights and phone on. I would also use it to get us back and forth to Texas at MD Anderson.
This man is my world, I have had to watch him change from a big healthy man to someone I don't recognize. My heart breaks for him, I told him I would take this from him, but he said no he would not want me to have to go through this. I love this man so much, please help my family.
