Susan's Cancer Medical Bills

Donation protected
Hi!  My name is Susan, 52 and I have been diagnosed with breast cancer stage 4.  Although my doctor advised me that having hormonal breast cancer is the best you can have, it never feels that way.  A year ago, I had back problems and procrastinated because I didn't have health insurance.  Not even ObamaCare.

I waited weeks thinking it was about getting old.  Never did I think it was cancer and in my bones.

When I got physically weaker, I became scared enough to make my doctors appointment.  I received my prednisoine and MRI scripts.  After taking my steroids, it didn't get any better, so I went for my MRI.

It's not a good sign when the Dr. of Radiology says you need to be admitted to hospital immediately.  WOW, now I was really scared.  No insurance, no real income.  I am now a product of undstanding you can't get sick in America.

My first stay at the hospital lasted under a month and didn't require any surgery.  My markers were clear.  I was started on Tamoixfen and a boatload of painkillers.

Being single with family living out of state, I needed skilled nursing and physical therapy.  I had lost my ability to walk because the cancer metastasized to my right knee.   The doctors insisted I could break the bone walking on it.  Oh boy!

After the hospital, I went into a rehab facility where it was determined I had a fractured left hip.  Back to the hospital for a second time and a hip replacement.

Several weeks later I was transfered to another rehab center and spent 54 days there working hard learning to walk again and be to take care of myself to go home.

With no income the past year and denies social security disability, I wasn't able to make payments for any of the medical bills I have accrued.   With your help, however small will help me.

A hospital stay for one day was $1,009.  One day!

I believe in giving back and have been anonymous Angel on your Shoulder when I can pay it forward in the past.   Now it is my turn to ask for financial help.

Almost a year later, I realize the time it takes to get better.  Each individual is different in their journey.
