Leshonda's Fighting Breast Cancer
Donation protected
My life changed when I was diagnosed three days before my birthday on July 27th 2015 with stage three breast cancer in my right breast. This was all due to a lump I found during a self evaluation.
I am currently on round three of six total chemo therapy sessions, which will be followed by a double mastectomy, radiation treatment, and reconstruction. I am scheduled for surgery the week of Jan. 4-10 and I would like to be ready.
Doctors state this process should take at least a year to get though.
I am still working a full schedule at work against my doctors recommendations due to the compromise of my immune system but I am determined to not sit idle and I am also a single mother raising my beautiful daughter. My daughter is 12 and she is my rock and my blessing. I want her life to remain as normal as possible without her worrying about me constantly, this remains a challenge because she is so smart and can easily pick up on how I am feeling.
Doctors tell me that there will be test and treatments my insurance will not cover. Those who know me recognize how difficult it is for me to ask anyone for anything, I am the giver and helper at heart. I realize even though my faith is strong at this time I need a village of support because I want to live! After surgery I will require weeks off work and I want to be able to focus on getting well and not medical bills and basic needs being met. Although I am positive everything will be alright, I do need to ask for help and solicit financial and emotional support from my family and friends to get through this critical time in my life. I would like to thank you in advance for any types of contributions whether they come in prayers or monetary support. My faith in God is strong and I am positive that something great will come out of this experience. Maybe I will become an advocate for breast cancer awareness. Wherever God leads me, I will be ready!
