What started as pneumonia and progressed into sepsis has now jeopardized my little sister’s life. Every major organ has been impacted, lungs, liver, kidneys, heart and brain plus other ancillary parts. And even when she comes out of the major crisis, there will be a long road back to normal, if even possible. Her life truly hangs in the balance right now and we just don’t know what will happen. We will take it one step at a time. We just know the painfulness of this as we lost our mom 4 years ago to Sepsis.
Even though Leslie can aggravate the heck out of me like any little sister should, I believe she is one of those bright lights of this world, a stranger to no one and a friend to everyone. I have definitely seen that with the outpouring of friends and family. And her light should continue to shine bright for a long time to come. So thank you and bless you for helping that happen.
We are continuing to make progress in the right direction though at a very slow pace and with a few hiccups along the way. But we are hopeful that she will recover, though it will be a very long road and the medical needs could be massive.
Unfortunately, her husband Craig has had to take “UNPAID“ FMLA from work, so they have no income coming in. And he will actually have to pay out of pocket to maintain insurance for Leslie. As we all do, they still have bills to pay and this additional medical expense on top. And they have a wonderful two year old, Cooper, who is full of life, to take care of. Craig is going to have to basically live at the hospital since there are no extra funds to pay for living and our hometown is about 2 hours away.
I generally DO NOT ask for help, but for Leslie, Craig and Cooper, I AM. And they are in desperate need of it. Every penny, nickel, dime makes a difference. But please know, I understand if a person can’t give and we will continue to just be grateful for your prayers. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated, even just to spread the word.
