Leslie "Ramblin'" Shamblin NEEDS OUR HELP!

Hi, my name is Brittany Feury White and I am organizing this fundraiser for my friend Leslie Shamblin.

More than likely, most of you might know Leslie through the Charleston music scene, where she has been a staple for 25 years, also booking shows for 2 years in both WV and OH.

When Leslie was 9 years old, she started having seizures triggered by hormones. They went away for a little bit, but have come back in the past few years, and have gotten much worse. On top of the seizures, she is dealing with depression, anxiety, pre-menstrual dysmorphic disorder (PMDD), fibromyalgia, arthritis, a herniated disc, and migraines.

Arthritis in her foot is so bad, she was seeing a doctor and going to physical therapy, but in January 2023, something ripped in her foot as she was walking and now she can barely walk. She found out from having an MRI that she has torn ligaments in her foot, and she cannot work because it is a liability employing someone who has seizures every other week, migraines every other day with her inability to walk.

When Leslie spoke with the unemployment office, she was told she was not employable because of her foot and as such, is ineligible to receive unemployment. As a result of all of the medical issues happening, for her safety, she has had to move back in with her parents, who are paying for everything that she can't get assistance with, which they really can't afford to do, so they have had to take out a loan for her care.

Recently, Leslie has been put on medication to stop her seizures, and while it has stopped her seizures, it has eliminated every other aspect of her life. She has difficulty speaking, spelling basic words, doing basic tasks, and even staying awake. She has a full cast on her foot and cannot drive, so she must rely on her parents for everything, and there is even a question of whether she would lose her assistance because she is no longer the one supporting herself.

When I spoke with Leslie about starting a GoFundMe, it was important for her to state that she knows everyone has been through things since the pandemic, and she is not trying to say that she's been through more than anyone else, but her entire life the way she knew it has changed and processing and dealing with the trauma is taking its toll on her, and her quality of life has greatly deteriorated.

Anything you could do to help would be greatly appreciated. Leslie has always given back to her music community, and now it's our time to give back to her.
