G'Day everyone.
**UPDATE**
When I created this Gofundme for our local courier man Steve, I wasn't sure how many people would think as highly of Steve as my family does. This fundraiser has created a tonne of conversation in our local community of Jimboomba and the surrounding suburbs about Steve. So many people knew who he is and adore him as we do.
His lovely wife Bronwyn clarified some details about Steve’s day. Here is what she said about her darling.
“I don’t know how many of you realize the hours Steve works to do his job. He gets up at 3.00am and is rarely home before 8.00pm, for several weeks before Christmas, it was after 10.00pm. His work ethic is second to none, he cares more for his customers than he does for himself. He’s just a good Aussie bloke that takes pride in his work. If you chose to help, I know he will be forever grateful, if not that is okay too but please, please don’t make negative comments until you know the full story. He is not employed by Australia Post, he gets paid peanuts to deliver your parcel, and the smile and service are complimentary.
For those of us in Australia who are blessed enough to have a wonderful postie or regular courier person, we know how hard their job is. Up and down, in and out of their cars all day, rain, hail, or shine.
Well, our guy is 'Steve'. While working, he was recently hit and his van was opened up like a can opener, cut right through the side from the back door to the front door, which now has a band-aid of duct tape on its side. The back lift-up door does not stay up on its own and he is using a prop to keep it up while he gets parcels out the back. If this comes down on him, he will be in a world of bother.
He never complains. He delivers 200 and beyond parcels a day at times and is simply, a lovely human. I thought of this when he dropped a parcel to us this morning and proceeded to use the prop to hold the door up while he climbed into the back of the truck to get out our parcel.
I would like the raised funds to go toward Steve being able to buy himself a new van. This will keep him safe and comfortable while delivering our parcels, all with a complimentary smile.
Thanks, everyone.
