Let's Create SAFE BRIDGES
Donation protected
I believe that creating empathetic and safe spaces for Transitional-Aged youth is imperative in reducing interpersonal violence in our communities.
Safe Bridges LA is an organization dedicated to creating safe spaces for Transitional-aged Youth by offering education services, mentorship, and employment assistance services. SBLA's believes that with safe spaces that are rooted in integrity and allyship for who THEY are, we can reduce interpersonal violence, homelessness, and displacement for Transitional-Aged youth.
I am asking for the community's help. Donations for this GoFundMe will go toward establishing SBLA's 501(c)3 standing with the state of California including all filing fees, my first year of fees, food and supplies for interested Transitional-aged Youth, and software. Additional costs include:
-Purchasing a website domain
-Property insurance
-General liability insurance
-Marketing and advertising costs
-Additional startup costs
Because of the pandemic, youth have to engage virtually, and thus, Safe Bridges LA will begin as a mostly-virtual program (with the exception of donation drop-offs). Eventually, this organization will work toward creating opportunities for Transitional-Aged youth to obtain housing and be supported in becoming self-sufficient, independent, and accountable.
There is a misconception that young folks can navigate by being fully reliant on their parents/guardians/caregivers. However, studies show that most teen homelessness is caused by family conflict, parental abuse, and self-esteem (which often lead to other barriers to independence). Coincidentally, these factors mirror those that lead to interpersonal violence. SBLA will work to to educate youth on self-sufficiency, self-esteem, and empowerment through education.
I believe that if we give the youth the tools to be who THEY are, not who WE expect them to be, we can create generations of folks who are more empathetic, more honest, more accountable, and more invested in integrity.
Thank you for your support!
