Let's Do This! Kearny School Supply Drive 2020
None of us know what the upcoming school year will bring! We've been working hard since the shutdown to make sure our students have all the resources and supplies they need to succeed. But now it's that time once again where we launch our students for another year!
Gen. Philip Kearny Public School is a K-8 school located in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia. We have ~300 students, 99% of whom are free-lunch eligible, and the school receives Title I funds.
Kearny is a school filled with active, vibrant learners whose test scores do not reflect what they might be capable of with proper funding. But for learning to happen, we need to start with the most basic supplies. You've come through for the last THREE YEARS with an entire pallet of paper!
This year, the school's needs are a little different. We're still going to use our funds toward paper, for teachers' copying needs for worksheets and packets.
But beyond that, we're working to send home the school supplies students will need, since it's hard to pop out to the store; we're looking to get extra sets of books & workbooks to send home; and we'll be coordinating learning circles for kids whose parents have to work to have somewhere to go.
Every little bit helps us toward turning this unfortunate situation into the best possible year it can be! We appreciate your support!
