Please help Mowgli the Service Dog!

Mowgli the Service Dog has been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and he, his owner Marko, and their family need your help.  Here is their story:

Marko adopted Mowgli on Dec. 11, 2011 from Mckamey Animal Shelter in Chattanooga, TN when he was only 8 weeks old.  Marko got him strictly as a pet at first, and took him to puppy obedience classes at the local Petco. Mowgli was so smart that he mastered everything the day it was introduced to him and they hardly had to practice the lessons at home. Due to his ability to learn quickly, Marko researched ADA Law and decided to train him to pull his wheelchair that way they could be together all the time. Within a week of training, Mowgli had already gotten the hang of it. It was almost like he had done it before. Mowgli's personality was also perfect for the job. When he was on the clock, he knew to behave and whenever they would take breaks in between classes, Marko would let him run around the courtyard and get love and attention from anyone that wanted to pet him. Mowgli was such a social butterfly and he spread so much joy; everyone loved him and he loved everyone.

Mowgli has done so much for Marko. He gave Marko -- who has been in a wheelchair for most of his life -- more independence and freedom by making it easier to go places. They were a sight to see! Because of Mowgli, Marko was hardly ever late to class and they would fly across campus like a one-dog dogsled team.

A couple of weeks ago Mowgli was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in his left leg. Mowgli no longer uses this leg and has been hopping around on 3 legs for about a week now. Unfortunately, the prognosis does not look good. Without treatment the oncology vet estimates that he has about 4-6 months before the cancer becomes too much for him to handle. With treatment, which involves amputation of the entire leg and a few rounds of chemotherapy, the vet estimates that he could live for another 2 years.

As Marko has said: "Mowgli took such good care of me when I needed him. He is truly my best friend. Even with the odds against us, I cannot sit idly by while my boy fights for his life. My mom took a chance when I had cancer as a baby, and now it's my turn to do everything in my power for him."
