Lets Help Kathy Andrews in her Fight Against AML!

Kathy's story: On Thursday, March 26th, Kathy received a life altering phonecall. She was informed of abnormalities in her blood work and was told to get to the hospital as soon as possible. For some time, Kathy was having symptoms to include a sore throat, swollen/bleeding gums, among other things. Upon arrival, she was immediately admitted to the hospital where she has been shockingly diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Kathy is at St. Luke’s, in Duluth, undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, her husband Gregg, children Ariane and Cameron, family members, and friends are standing-by because of the fact that no one is allowed to visit her due to her condition and COVID-19 :(
ACUTE MYELOID LEUKEMIA is a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow with excess immature white blood cells. AML progresses rapidly, with myeloid cells interfering with the production of normal white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. Treatment depends on the stage; including chemotherapy, other drug therapy, and bone marrow transplant.
The short term prognosis is looking like at least 30 days in the hospital, best case scenario. The ending timeline will hinge on how well the initial rounds of chemo take effect and do their job.
As you can imagine, this will all likely be incredibly expensive, and we want Kathy to receive the best care available from the most qualified nurses, doctors, oncologists, and specialists. While her doctors are creating a treatment plan, we hope to take away some of the financial stress for them. So many of us have received the help, positivity and support from our dear Kathy in our own time of need and now she needs us to come together and show her that she has an army in her corner!
To support Kathy and her family, please consider donating to, and/or sharing, our GoFundMe page that has been set up across your social media channels. All donations will be used for medical expenses, lost wages and miscellaneous expenses for her family as she will be unable to return to work while undergoing treatment. Any donation of any size is greatly appreciated, no matter what.
Thank you for your generosity and please know that they are extremely appreciative of you all and feel very loved from the outpouring of support and encouragement they have already received from texts, calls and Facebook! Here is to hoping for the best results moving forward.
