Let's save some puppies - Rickshaw Run Himalayas

Donation protected
Ever the idiots, we have signed up to attempt the Rickshaw Run Himalaya. You've seen us drive a crappy underpowered pile of junk car (sorry, I shouldn't speak ill of the dead) from London to Mongolia, and you've seen us drive an auto-rickshaw from the North of India past 1 million cows all the way to the South. Never ones to shy away from a poorly thought out challenge, we will now try to drive a rickshaw through the Himalayas. Doesn't sound so bad, right? Unfortunately for us the roads are incredibly high and incredibly dangerous.

Not only will we be driving a very unsuitable vehicle on very bad roads in a very remote part of the world, we'll be  doing this at an altitude that would give a mountain goat vertigo (17,480 ft  or 5,328 m). Being this high and oxygen starved will be detrimental to both us and our vehicle. Gas stations are up to 300km apart which sounds reasonable, until you remember that a rickshaw has a gas tank the size of a sippy cup.

We mentioned this is a remote part of the world right? Because the roads between the start and finish line are shut for at least half the year, there are almost no permanent features on this terrain.  Not much has changed in this respect since the ancient trade routes passed through here on the way to China. Bit different than our usual luxury gig in Bali, no?

So WHY are we doing this? Excellent question my friend. Because we're raising money for a good cause of course. Oh and because we're idiots - can't forget that part. But let's focus on the charity piece, shall we?  This year we'll be raising money both for the Adventurists' charity of choice Cool Earth (which is doing its damndest to halt rainforest deforestation) but also for the charity of our choice, Mission Pawsible. Mission Pawsible is a Bali based charity actively involved in both the rescue of the never ending stream of dogs here in Bali but also in the education of locals to prevent future suffering. So how bad do the dogs of Bali have it and how amazing is Mission Pawsible? Let me paint you a picture.

Now if that doesn't make you want to run out and hug the first dog you see, I don't know what to say.

Faced with seeing this devastation every damn day, we knew we had to do something. We've been rescuing dogs on our own but it's never enough, so we thought let's do something ridiculous and get the word out there. Let's harass all our friends and family to help us help the dogs! So please - donate to our cause! Any amount is a massive help to the dogs of Bali. Mission Pawsible is doing amazing work and they need all the help they can get. We're happy to put our normally comfy butts on the line for a good cause, so please help us out with a donation. Thanks kids! - Chels & Mike.
