Leticia’s Final Wish

Maria “Leticia” Sandoval is one of those women where to know her, is to love her. Leticia is a native of Mexico, and married to the love of her life, Edwin.  She has two beautiful children, two perfect grandsons and worked hard to become a proud American Citizen.  She has not been dealt an easy hand in this world.  In 2011 her eldest child, her son Edwin, died in a horrific car accident.  He was only 23 years old.  Later that same year Leticia was diagnosed with stage three stomach cancer.  In 2012 she underwent a surgery where her entire stomach was removed.  She began a long road to recovery through intensive chemotherapy treatments.  Thankfully she survived and was blessed to watch her daughter, Stephanie, give birth to her two grand children over the following years.  Leticia was doing well, had yearly PET scans and seemed to be healthy.  However, in 2019, the cancer returned.  The cancer had now entered her bones, pelvis, and surrounding areas.  In 2020 she began radiation to shrink the cancer. Followed by another intense round of chemotherapy.  Within weeks of stopping intravenous chemo therapy, the cancer spread even more, taking over her entire lower body.  At this point, there is nothing left for doctors to do except to keep her comfortable.  She will be in hospice care and kept pain free.  Her biggest fear right now is her family struggling to pay the final expenses to be laid to rest.  Leticia’s final wish is to be buried with her son, and not have the extreme financial hardship be placed on her husband and daughter.  Leticia has shown so much love to those around her, now it is our time to show her we love her too.
