Rally for Rowan's Medical Fund
Donation protected
UPDATE DECEMBER 15, 2016:
It is with great sadness that I share the passing of Rowan Jameson Windham, who was welcomed into the arms of Jesus at 2:11AM December 15, 2016 following complications from his two bone marrow transplants at Seattle Children's Hospital.
At this time, financial donations are greatly appreciated. Immediate expenses include shipping both Carrie's car and a pod full of Rowan's stuff back to Texas. Estimated expenses are $5,000 for this alone.
The estimated expenses with transporting Rowan's body back to Texas, arranging for his burial, his casket, his burial plot, his Celebration of Life, and all that this entails is estimated to be in the neighborhood of $20,000.
Therefore, our current immediate goal for fundraising is $25,000. There are still unlimited medical bills to cover, but this is the immediate need.
Rowan was truly the brightest light to our world for the past ten years. I have no doubt his light from heaven will continue to shine as brightly as it did on earth. Rowan was truly an incredible boy who changed the lives of countless people with his unwavering faith, wisdom, wit, humor, maturity, inspiration, joy, hope, love, selflessness, bright smile, courage, strength, bravery, determination, and heroism. Rowan ALWAYS found the good in ALL situations. Rowan and his powerful legacy will always be remembered and honored by those around the world who so dearly loved him. Please continue to pray for Rowan's family--Carrie (Rowan's mom), Brian (Rowan's dad), Zoë (Rowan's sister) and Ian (Rowan's brother), as well as his extended family and countless friends around the world.
Here is an update from Rowan's mom:
Some may say the world got darker at 2:11 am this morning when Rowan's heart stopped beating. but our family is choosing to see that the world was brighter because Rowan was ever in it. We were blessed with the 10 best years of our lives. He is playing tag in heaven with all his angel friends now. He is healthy and whole and new. Thank you For all your prayers and support. Brian and the kids arrived 2 hours before he passed away.
Here is the original GoFundMe info that was posted when I started this site to raise funds for Rowan's medical expenses:
This medical fund was set up by friends of Rowan because we love him dearly and he's our HERO! This GoFundMe site is the only approved GoFundMe for Rowan. (We wanted to share that info so that scammers cannot take advantage of this situation and raise funds deceptively.) Please follow Rowan's Facebook group for consistent updates: Rally for Rowan. https://www.facebook.com/groups/rallyforrowan/
Rowan has a rare life-threatening disease and is traveling from Texas to Seattle Children's Hospital (multiple times) where he's meeting with the top doctors in the world for his diagnoses. After numerous in-depth medical tests and meetings, the transplant team at Seattle Children's Hospital has unanimously decided to proceed with Rowan's bone marrow transplant in June 2016.
Our goal is to raise a minimum of $100,000 for Rowan's family as they will need to move to Seattle for 4-6 months during Rowan's bone marrow transplant. There are so many expenses, from airfare, to living expenses, to meals and miscellaneous expenses, to missed work, not to mention the medical expenses. It adds up so quickly, yet Rowan and his family keep their eyes on God and smiles on their faces through all of the challenges.
While we can't remove the medical challenges, we CAN remove the financial challenges. Rowan's family goes above and beyond to bless the socks off countless families by continuously serving and giving and blessing others with homemade, personalized quilts as well as numerous wishes they've made come true for other families with medically fragile children. Rowan's precious family never expects or asks for anything in return. We feel it's now their turn to finally receive blessings from countless friends and fans and prayer warriors from around the world, just as they've done time and time again for others.
Thank you so very much for your support. Every penny donated will go directly to Rowan's family for medical and related expenses of Rowan's bone marrow transplant. GoFundMe takes a small percentage of your donation (5%), but everything else will go directly toward Rowan's medical expenses.
Here is what Rowan's mom wrote about him:
"Our son Rowan has been diagnosed with a rare disorder, Shwachmann-Diamond Syndrome. It affects the pancreas, gi tract, immune system, blood and bone marrow. He is only 8, but has spent over 1100 days in the hospital, had dozens of blood transfusions, made more than 75 trips to the OR. He is one of the happiest, most amazing little boys you'll ever meet though. He finds joy in the little things, and never ever feels sorry for himself. We all could learn a thing or two from Rowan, our little trooper!"
