Let's Continue Secret Meals in Sumter County!
Tax deductible
According to a 2022 doctoral study at the University of West Alabama, students in Alabama's Black Belt experienced Very Low Food Security (VLFS) at over 11 times the national average. Sumter County is particularly affected, being the second lowest-earning county in Alabama, with its citizens having an average income 50% below the state average. It is also home to many food deserts: places where no grocery stores may be found for 25 miles. But for only $140 per student, the West Alabama Food Bank in Tuscaloosa will provide year-round weekend food assistance ("Secret Meals") to those who need it most. Will you help us?
