Let’s bring Nana’s back

Donation protected
My name is Danielle. My parents Rich and Karen own a Hot Dog Shop that is well known in the North Side Community in the the City of Pittsburgh. Nana's New York Style Hot Dog is the oldest hot dog in Pittsburgh, previously known as Steve's, has been located on Federal Street since 1964. My parents have owned the shop since 2013. Nana's is a well known spot in the heart of the city. Loved by many. It's the kind of place frequently visited by locals and tourists. Nana (Karen) knows the regular guest by name with most visiting a few times a week. It's the kind of place where kids come in and receive a Hug (juice drink) and a Kiss (Hershey Kiss) from Nana. Where everyone knows each other and new friends are made with excellent service and great food. People come from all over the city and surrounding areas to visit Nana's. New customers are always coming through the door. Nana adores her customers and the customers adore Nana.

On December 19, 2023 Nana's had to close down due to a devastating fire. The fire started in the upstairs area of the building. My father ran his eBay business, ChiroKMD, from this apartment. He has had his successful eBay business, ChiroKMD, for over 30 years with a large successful fan base and repeat customers from all over the world. The fire completely destroyed the upstairs unit. Destroying all of his inventory. My father saw the fire and jumped into action. He suffered 2nd degrees burns on his hands and face in an attempt to put the fire out. When he realized the fire was too much he hurried to save his wife Nana from the building. Nana was in the restaurant preparing to open for the day. They both got out safely. The flames had already engulfed the second and third floors of the building by the time the fire department arrived. The first floor that housed Nana's suffered significant damage as a result of the fire. Both businesses that my parents managed from the building are a total loss. The businesses that provided them with living, gone. Just before Christmas.

Thankfully, Nana's has insurance. However, insurance only covers so much. Nana has two employees Dot and Kelly, who are now without jobs just before Christmas. They rely on the income from Nana's to support themselves and their families. The money raised from this fundraiser will go to everyone affected by this tragedy. It will help Nana, Rich, Dot and Kelly during the next several months while we navigate through cleanup and rebuilding Nana's. It will also cover any losses that insurance does not cover.

Our ultimate goal is to rebuild Nana's and open it again. We will not allow this devastating moment to end the NorthSide era since 1964. Help us bring back Nana's.

We thank everyone for their generosity and appreciate each and every one of you.
