Let’s bring the Clockwork Orange to Ibrox Primary School

Donation protected
This fundraising page is being set up by us, Ibrox Primary School’s Parent Council, to allow us to pay for the transport of an old Glasgow Subway carriage, from the depot it is currently being stored in, to Ibrox Primary School’s playground.

There has been recent televised/newspaper press surrounding the availability of these retired subway carriages which have become available for community and not-for-profit organisations, subject to transport arrangements being organised. As a school community, we were extremely excited about the idea of acquiring one of these and positioning it in our school playground (similar to previous projects completed in England). This resource would certainly be the first-of-a-kind in the city and invaluable for our pupils. It would help to make our playground a more exciting and stimulating place for everyone as well as providing the following:

•A calm breakout space for years to come
•A space for children to help regulate emotions
•An outdoor teaching area/library space for story time
•A link with our local area’s history with Ibrox having its own Subway station
•A resource to develop the young workforce and future career aspirations, i.e. “I would love to be a train driver when I grow up”
•A resource to explore and link to all aspects of the curriculum for all ages and stages – literacy, numeracy, social studies, history, to name a few
•A way of teaching the children the value of respect (one of the school’s values) and the importance of looking after our property and heritage
•Keeping our subway carriages in the city where they belong

Your donations will go towards the cost of transporting the carriage from the Underground’s depot to Ibrox Primary School’s playground. It will also cover the costs of positioning it and securing it safely.

We really appreciate you taking the time to read our story and donate to our cause. Your support is invaluable in us achieving this unique and meaningful goal of having one of Scotland’s Clockwork Orange trains in our playground. Please share this so more people can hear about our fundraiser - help us get behind our wee school and keep a bit of Glasgow’s history local!
