Let's Build a House - Diane Pruitt!
Donation protected
On October 21, 2016 Diane Pruitt suffered a staph infection that abscessed in her spine. Neurosurgeons performed three spinal surgeries over the course of six days and cut her spine open from top to bottom in an effort to clear out the infection and save the use of her upper and lower body. Sadly, she was left permanently paralyzed from the hips down and is confined to a wheelchair. Diane is 59 years old and even with the devastating news she has remained completely positive... the epitome of strength and determination through hardship.
Diane and her husband of 41 years, Rick, previously lived an active lifestyle in the mountains of Graeagle, CA. She will not be able to return to her modest mountain home because of her need for rehab, frequent doctor's appointments and wheelchair accessibility. Her family has secured a small house (550 sq. ft.) in Sparks, but we need the community's help to get it ready for her to come home to. Although we have received in kind donations and people have stepped up to help with the work in the home, Rick and Diane still need money to pay for some construction costs and to purchase some new items for the house that will need to be replaced to accomodate Diane's new life in a wheelchair. Please let's pull together to help Diane get the wheelchair accessible home she needs!
