Do you want to visit auto museums when you travel anywhere in the world? Here is how you can find out where they are.
Automuseums.info is the biggest and most comprehensive guide to automobile museums worldwide. It lists 1663 museums and collections from 67 countries, where cars, motorcycles, trucks, coaches/buses, fire engines, scale models or automobilia are being displayed.
It was conceived by Dr. Pál Négyesi, a Hungarian-born motoring historian, magazine editor and museum professional, in 2010. He is one of only a handful of people who wrote a doctoral thesis on automotive museums. Titled “How the Motor Museum Saw the Automobile?” it charts the change in curatorial practices regarding the display of automobiles in German and Austrian museums in the 20th century.
Your contributions primarily support the development of the database. It is not for profit. We do have two partners who help support the database website: CEAutoClassic and Rare & Unique Vehicles magazine. However, your financial contributions provide the majority of the funding needed to make this website possible.
Our team works diligently to keep the list up-to-date and as comprehensive as possible, but we need your help.
We are planning to overhaul the design of the website. You can find a sneak peek, a mockup of the new look at https://new.automuseums.uk
When we reach our initial goal of €10,000, we can implement the new look, add a newsletter service and will be able to feature more news and museum visit reports.
We also have plans for the second phase of development, which requires an additional €5000. So when we cross the €15,000 threshold, we can launch work on a comprehensive catalog of the vehicles displayed in auto museums across the world that will be available on automuseums.info.
Please support our plans to create the best automotive museum guide possible!
