Let's support the Beauty Industry
We’ve all heard the saying, “when you purchase from a small business, a real person does a happy dance” but in Australia right now, dancing is the last thing on their minds.
Lockdown, is continually being extended for weeks on end and has hit small businesses harder than anyone can imagine.
The State Government’s Circuit Breaker Support Package, designed to provide financial relief for businesses has seen only one in seven successfully meet its needs, leaving the remaining businesses without ANY financial assistance while their doors are closed.
An industry that is no stranger to the mental and financial stress of continued lockdowns is the Professional Beauty and Aesthetics Industry where hundreds of salons, spas, clinics and wellness centres have had their doors closed more than opened on them over the past twelve months.
Behind the faces of the smiling beauty therapists, promoting their online stores, consulting via zoom and sharing their innovative at-home facial kits are exhausted individuals fighting for not just their businesses but their ability to put food on the table tonight.
They are parents, siblings, children and carers. They are the breadwinners and for some, the sole income for their family. They’re also the home-schooling teachers, the chefs, the chauffers, the cleaners and the reality of many businesses that won’t reopen once restrictions lift.
With collaboration in mind, Beaute Industrie partnered with the Aesthetic & Beauty Industry Council (ABIC), a NFP industry association who called upon some of the industry’s most prominent brands to get the job done. Brands including Dermalist and Professional Beauty Solutions got behind the quick-thinking and donated generously towards the goal.
Loudening the voices of an unheard industry, an official Go Fund Me page was set up to help support those struggling. The donated funds will be used to purchase food and supplies.
ABIC’s CEO Stefanie Milla, is currently reaching out Political Ministers to bring attention to the profound need of Australians.
An industry that is dedicated to caring for the needs of others has yet again been forgotten about. If we all contribute, we can make not only a difference in people lives, but also send a message to the government that we need to look after our people. We have a chance to make a difference now, let’s take it!
