Let's get Caitlyn to Camp Borneo in 2024
Donation protected
My name is Caitlyn and I am a student at Abbey College in Ramsey.
How am I fundraising?
In September 2009, when I was 1 year old, a team of family and friends completed the National 3 Peaks challenge to raise money on my behalf to say thank you to the charity that looked after my family whilst I underwent life-saving heart surgery.
In September 2023 I will take part in the same National 3 Peaks challenge, 14 years on from the first challenge and 15 years after my heart surgery, I am going to join that team along with my older brother to raise the funds for my trip to Borneo.
Why am I fundraising?
I am raising money to enable me to participate in a Camps International Expedition to Borneo in July 2024. It is a 4-week trip that will see me complete community development work, environmental projects and wildlife conservation. It will also include learning how to scuba dive and obtaining a PADI qualification.
I will also be donating 20% of the money raised from the National 3 Peaks challenge to the British Heart Foundation to enable them to continue their research in to projects that might help me in the future but will definitely help people now.
Why do I want to take part?
This will be an amazing experience and a huge accomplishment for me. The main objectives of the trip are to undertake projects to raise the living and educational standards of developing communities within a rural district of Borneo and to assist with ongoing wildlife conservation programs to preserve biodiversity and protect vulnerable habitats.
The trip will be a great opportunity to develop skills in team building, communicating and working with a variety of different people, improving the environment & experiencing new cultures.
Other fundraising
I have to raise £4,580 in total so, over the next few months, I will be undertaking several activities to raise the funds required to be able to join the expedition.
Throughout the year I will also be making and selling macrame items at craft fairs throughout Cambridgeshire and on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100090671102327)
