Let's Get Ginny Doing Zoomies Again!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Michelle and I’m fundraising for orthopedic surgery for my “foster fail” pup, Ginny. Ginny came to me almost 5 years ago as a foster and I later adopted her. She was found stray in Philadelphia and was in poor condition…underweight and wounded with many fresh dog bites. She was withdrawn, reactive and afraid of men, boots, and any dog bigger than a Chihuahua. On a positive note, she loved children, puppies and small dogs. It was a lengthy journey to get her to trust both people and larger dogs again. She is now a healthy, happy, silly girl! Ginny now needs bilateral surgery in both "knees" (rear leg joints) to repair torn cranial cruciate ligaments (CCL). Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) is currently the most common orthopedic surgery performed on dogs and it has excellent outcomes. However, the cost has gone up considerably in the past few years. Repairing both knees at the same time will eliminate the need for a 2nd surgery and saves thousands of dollars. Ginny will spend 2 nights in the hospital and will then be on limited, light activity for a few weeks. I've received very positive feedback on TPLO from multiple sources, including this local Nextdoor.com community, where I found multiple recommendations for Dr. Salas, the surgeon. I thought she was terrific and had a wonderful bedside manner!
Ginny suddenly lost use of one leg last week when she decided to zoomie before I could grab her, and she stepped into a hole in the lawn. Her "good" side was already partially torn. Ginny is currently wearing a "Help ‘Em Up" harness, so I can assist her with sit to stand, getting outside (which necessitates going down stairs), and walking on smooth floors. She is an older, but strong, healthy dog, and the alternative is to euthanize her, especially when the 2nd side goes, as then she'll be unable to walk. Her mobility is very limited now and she’s in pain. The TPLO surgery will address the problem and she’s expected to do very well. Ginny and I need your support to make it happen. Can you help Ginny get her zoomies back? We would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
