Let's get Jessica Renaud home!

We have been absolutely inundated with messages, texts, calls, etc, on how you can help Jessica, Scott and Harrison during this time. So - here we go. But first, a little back story if you're new to the situation.

As many of you know, on Friday October 28th, Jessica was hit head on by another vehicle. Luckily there was a guardian angel who stopped, was able to help her with the call to 911 and stayed with her until the ambulance arrived. (Whoever you are, THANK YOU).

Jessica immediately went into surgery to stop the internal bleeding. She ended up with a blood clot in her neck and had to stay in critical care for the first 2 nights. She also had a collapsed lung and cracked ribs. She has since had a handful of other surgeries as her entire right side was shattered; I compare her to Humpty Dumpty, as they literally had to piece her back together. With many of these surgeries also came blood transfusions, blood clots and various other scares. Her birthday is December 4th and the goal is to have her home by then. She is currently undergoing rigorous physical therapy at the hospital as she has no mobility on her right side. She will be in a wheelchair for quite a while and unable to walk for many more weeks.

So how can you help? Jessica won't be able to work for quite awhile and Scott has been spending as much time with J as possible also while keeping as much normalcy for Harrison as possible. Unfortunately the person who hit them did not have insurance so theirs is working overtime. They will have to install a wheelchair ramp, and need lots of delivered meals in the coming months, not to mention the drive Scott is making every day from Prole to downtown Des Moines. We aren't sure exactly what they need quite yet but those of you that haves asked, this is the best route.
