Hello! My name is unimportant, but my friend's name, Onyekachi Unamba, is. Kachi is a dear friend, caring son, and loving brother. He is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. He has a gift for making people feel known, special, and loved. At the beginning of July, he lost his father. He has been in Chicago this summer, away from his immediate family in Nigeria. His family needs him and he needs them. Please help us get him home!
ATHANESIUS’S OBITUARY
Athanesius Nnadozie Unamba Nwagwu, a beloved brother, husband, and father,
passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on July 9th , 2023, in Port Harcourt,
Rivers State Nigeria, at 63, surrounded by his loving family. Athanesius was born on October 14 th , 1959, in Imo State, Nigeria to Anna and Luke Nwagwu Onwusiri. He was the third child of his parents' ten children and the second son of their six sons. He grew up in a small town outside Owerri, the capital city of Imo State, where he attended a public primary school after the civil war in 1972. After graduating from secondary school in 1982, he moved to Lagos where he worked as a field supervisor for three years to help his family. He eventually got his Higher National Diploma (HND) in electrical/electronic Engineering from Yaba College of Technology, Yaba in 1992 and his bachelor's in electrical/electronic engineering from the University of Port-Harcourt in 2000. Athanesius began his career as a contract staff (field engineer) working for different contractors for up to 29 years till his death. He was a very dedicated employee and was well respected by his colleagues.
In his free time, Athanesius enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved
engaging in different DIY projects around his home and watching different TV
shows with his family. He was also a devoted Christian. Until his death, he was a
Sunday school teacher in the adult church and a passionate helper in various
church activities. Athanesius was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, uncle, and in-law. He was married to his wife, Loreto, for 20 years, and they had and raised five children: Onyekachi, Chinyere, Chibuike, Udochukwu, and Mmesomachukwu, together. He will be deeply missed by all of them. A funeral service will be held on August 25th , 2023, at 10 am in his hometown in Imo State, Nigeria.
