Hi I’m Julie I’m fundraising to help this business get back on their feet and save their business after yet another break-in.

This business is part of our community and one of the first to shout out and help any community project, they are supporting and helping dozens of Kids over the holidays from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Not the best start to the week

It’s awful being broken into, especially when your an independent business.. your business is a part of you… it feel intrusive and violated, you feel on edge in your own space.

Today has made us feel angry at who’s done this, embarrassed for not being in a position to secure the space with a roller shutter fully, worried of the future of our business and deflated to say the least.

But it’s important we also acknowledge the kind messages, offers of support and help from local businesses, customers and the community we received today!

This made us feel proud of what we do, welcomed and valued in our community and supported by friends, families and customers alike ❤️

The break in has caused thousands in damages, with us now having to replace the shop frontage, interior cabinet glass and alarm system which was vandalised.

This is before we’ve even thought about the stock that was taken!

It’s going to effect our premiums, it’s going to put us in the red for a few months. We’ve debated today whether we simply close and cut our losses. But we can’t, we love what we do and have to persevere.

We’ve had a call from the police informing us the two individuals who they believe broke in are in custody and the CSI team felt confident they had some evidence to support the situation.

This summer we will be providing close to a thousand free meals to children in the community, as well a safe space and activities for them to enjoy.

We won’t let this stop the work we do

We went to say a special thanks to Dane Matthewman and his team who came out short notice to help board up our window to secure the premises, John Mack who was on site within 30 minutes of the news with gloves helping us clear glass off the pathway, Julie Hart who has offered us support all day and Brad for helping with the clean up for hours!

We’re blessed to be surrounding my good people, good neighbours and a community that want the best for Guisborough.

Now for some family time before we are back with our HAF provision bright and early ⏰
