Let’s get Rachel home to be with her son!

Hi, my name is Rachel Thomas and I need

everyone’s help please. I’m in need of a specialised battery pack for my wheelchair which will no doubt significantly improve my quality of life and help me to live as independently as I can with my son!

As you are all aware I have been in hospital for many months now. I have a condition called

Dysautonomia and also recently I’ve been

diagnosed with interstinal failure. 

I’m currently receiving nutrition and fluids via a PEG tube into my stomach and a NJ tube

into the bowel. I’m still also awaiting

surgery for my right leg to be amputated

but unfortunately at the moment I’m not

well enough for this to happen. I’ve

become very weak and I am needing a lot more

help and support from everyone!

Our ultimate goal is to get me home and to improve my quality of life so that I can be with my son who I miss terribly every day however, this will not be easy and it will come at a cost.

The life changing equipment that I would require the most would be a motorised battery pack for my wheelchair. I’m very weak at the moment and this would enable me to get around my house independently and it would help me to get around outside and enabling me to do things with my son. This would improve my quality of life significantly. This alone costs £5,000 and unfortunately the NHS are not able to fund this.

Unfortunately the NHS cannot fund everything. I require extensive physical rehabilitation once I get home multiple times a week however, the NHS will only be able to offer 2 sessions on a weekly basis due to the demands/needs of the service. I will need further hospital stays/treatments to various hospitals including Cardiff, Morriston, Kings hospital London. Many hospital trips on a weekly basis which all come at an extra cost.

I was a nurse who sadly had to give up my

career that I loved dearly due to my poor Ill health. I have also helped fundraise for lots of causes before at my local hospital but currently I am not well enough to do

this myself and now I am the one in need for help from everyone to help me get the medical treatments I require and to help me be as independent as possible with my son!

I need all the help I can to reunite me with my son and family and for me to have a better quality of

life together.

I’ve always ever tried to make everyone

else happy and smile, I’ve lost my sparkle and really need everyone’s help and support, little or large to help me shine and be a super star again!
