Let's get SARAH & SHAYNE to the MARGOT FONTEYN!

Hi everyone, it's Kristen and Bob here - proud parents of Sarah!

As you may be aware, in early July we received the exciting news that Sarah

had been accepted to attend The Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition, the flagship annual event of the Royal Academy of Dance.

Sarah became eligible to participate after receiving a Distinction in her Advanced 2 RAD exam.

The RAD has informed us that they believe she is the FIRST person from Tasmania to ever participate in this prestigious event.

It is a huge honour to be accepted and the opportunity of a lifetime for Sarah to represent her State and her dance school. It is also a testament to the exceptional training she has received over many years from her wonderful ballet teacher Shayne Davies and all her teachers at House of Dance (HOD).

For those who are interested and able, this Go Fund Me page has been set up to help raise funds to enable Sarah and Shayne to travel to London in October.

It will make a world of difference for Sarah to have Shayne by her side in London each day to assist with her preparation. The competition runs for more than a week, with workshops followed by 3 days of semi-finals at which she will perform a classical variation, an original contemporary piece and a new work commissioned by the RAD (to be learnt at the workshops), as well as taking class live on stage in front of an audience. All these activities form part of the selection process whereby a small number of candidates progress to the final.

We would like to disclose that Sarah has been fortunate enough to receive a generous bursary, via a competitive application process, from the RAD to help cover the £500 entry fee(!) and some of the travelling costs.
