Roberts "One Night In Heaven" With Hedkandi Ibiza

This year Hedkandi return to Ibiza on Saturday August 26th for one very special party @ Es Paradis. We would love to see all our Hedkandi family there but we need to ensure one of our most important VIPs is there. We need Robert Johnson to join us for "One Night In Heaven."

If you have joined Hedkandi on the dance-floor over the last few years you have probably met Robert Johnson. Consistently proving that age has no barrier Robert is 74 years old and has attended events up and down the country. Robert has never leveraged his age and has never asked for guest-list (we've offered numerous times).

Mark Doyle says "I first met Robert wearing a Fierce Angel T-Shirt in Ibiza town on the weekend we closed our Fierce Angel party for the final year at El Divino. Robert had followed Hedkandi then Fierce Angel and then Hedkandi again when I returned. I learned that Robert went to Ibiza regularly and had a club schedule that would terrify a 21 year old. Quite simply Robert is a legend and most importantly an example to all of us and beyond all of that he's part of our family".

As we return to Ibiza with our party at Es Paradis on Saturday 26th August we wanted to ensure Robert was part of it and offered to fly him out for one night. Robert told us that due to many factors he had missed his Ibiza marathons for a few years. The Hedkandi team thought with a little help we could do better than one night. We wanted to ensure that this year is a truly amazing year for Robert and we thought the Hedkandi family could help.

Any funds received would be used to extend Roberts trip and then beyond that we would donate any funds to the variety of Cat Charities on Ibiza as we are all a bit passionate about animals. Robert is an avid cat person and even offered to go for a shorter time if we could make sure we have some funds for the cats ..

This is Roberts Story

As a kid, I listened to Radio Luxembourg under the sheets at night - sounds familiar? As a youth used to be one of the DJs at the church youth club over the road. The DJ bug got me and I ended up as the resident in a good club in the centre of Liverpool.

Later in life I ended up doing a degree in IT with a year out in Valencia. The other students dragged me out to discos playing rave an techno. That was me hooked on rave and techno at 43. Went back home and l listened to Pete Tong, Danny Rampling, Judge Joules, Dave Pearce et al. One day Pete Tong played Pray by Syntax. 2 Weeks later I found that track listed in an ad in the Ministry magazine for an album called Twisted Disco and bought the album.

It blew my mind so I looked into the label which was Hedkandi and ended up buying all their compilations on the release date and a lot of back catalogue. Went on my first clubbing holiday in Ibiza in 2007 aged 58, mainly to see Hedkandi in El Divino but also discovered Defected.

Went back to Ibiza every year after that till I was 69 and had to stop because I got less affluent. I love clubbing in Ibiza.
