hi my name is Amanda and i am fundraising to help 18 year old Bethany Pryce from Kilkeel Co. down who suffered a sudden illness last year resulting in her being left paralysed and confined to a wheelchair. Bethany an active and sporty young lady represented both her school and local hockey club on many occasions. She also enjoys music and has been a member of Ballymartin Pipe band for many years where she played the side Drum. Bethany attends the Church BB as a helper and has worked her way up to becoming a BB leader .
This remarkable and beautiful young lady has shown continuous strength and positivity throughout her rehabilitation journey, even during her most recent time spent in Belfast Royals ICU after a further unexplained illness.
Bethany is seen pictured here in February when she attended her school formal, an emotional and joyous day for all her family, friends and love ones., it was within a week that Bethany was again faced with another challenge in ICU.
Now/In her final stages of rehabilitation Bethany is in the situation where she must continue her physio journey at home. It has been recommended by specialists that Bethany purchases a Functional Electrical Stimulation bike for home use as a method of restorative therapy. It is hoped that this bike will improve Bethany’s muscle definition, strength and indeed further progress her rehabilitation.
Unfortunately, these bikes are extremely specialised, expensive and not readably available in Northern Ireland and it is for this reason that we would like to ask out local community to help Bethany purchase such an innovative and proven successful piece of equipment.
