Let’s help bridge the Gap for Kevin Oshiro
Donation protected
This is Patrick, Dave and Cathy and we are all honored to be friends with the infamous and amazing Kevin Oshiro. We are guessing that if you are looking at this link, you probably are a relative or friend of his too! Kevin is one of the kindest, quirkiest, most sensitive men we know. He is an integral and active part of multiple communities, and his warmth, humor, leadership, and generous contributions of time and wisdom are invaluable.
We wanted to share an important way we can pay it forward to Kevin at this time.
BACKGROUND:
Most of you probably know that Kevin has been diagnosed as being legally blind.
As you can imagine, adjusting to life with permanent vision loss requires significant lifestyle changes. Unfortunately, Kevin has had to give up driving altogether, and learn to master public transportation systems, as well as walking everywhere with a white cane. He's also had to give up his saxophone as it aggravates his eye condition (I know - such a beautiful thing to lose; we're grieving too!!).
At the same time, Kevin has been actively job hunting since 2018. Challenges of seeking employment in the competitive SF Bay Area (combined with barriers such as ageism and ableism) are accumulating, yet Kevin maintains his optimistic outlook that the right opportunity will open.
CURRENT NEED:
Altogether, these factors have created a perfect storm that has exhausted Kevin's savings and retirement accounts in order to keep up with daily living expenses. This gofundme is a stop gap measure for Kevin to bridge the financial gap until he finds employment and/or his public benefits (SSDI) kick in sometime in the near future. The amount we raise will help to alleviate some of Kevin's upcoming housing, medical and income tax related expenses.
Friends and Family, please thoughtfully consider a gift to pay it forward. Please share and forward to others who might know and care for Kevin. However, kindly please do NOT share this link on any social media platforms to protect Kevin's privacy.
