UPDATE: May 5, 2023
Cameron was released this past Wednesday after a second hospitalization that began 4 days after his discharge from his initial stay at Conroe Regional Hospital. He is now well enough to travel Wednesday, May 10th to San Antonio where he has a 7:00 a.m. appointment the morning of the 11th at the Kidney Transplant Center for his patient orientation and work up. Please keep him and his family and friends in your prayers. He has a long arduous journey ahead of him but with everyone's love and support he can make this journey with us here on the ground helping and his angel brother Jay watching and helping from above!
There are shirts and bracelets now! Pray For Camo. Contact Jennifer Cox or Sherry Shepherd for more information!
UPDATE: April 17, 2023
Cameron was diagnosed with IGA Nephropathy also known as Berger's Disease. It has been building up an antibody called Immunoglobulin A(IGA)that results in inflammation in the kidneys causing scar tissue. It has left Cameron's kidneys with 90% scar tissue coverage. Medication will not fix this problem, it's going to take a transplant! So he is in the process of getting set up with dialysis three times a week while he is on the transplant list!
I am Joey (Joe Don) Cox, I am an uncle to one amazing young man Cameron Sykes! Cameron is in the fight of his life right now and currently hospitalized with 1% kidney function! His blood pressure at admission was so dangerously high that he was at a 100% risk for heart attack or stroke. Luckily dialysis has helped normalize things somewhat but the road ahead is uncertain to say the least. With no health insurance the bills are going to be quite overwhelming.
At this time dialysis is needed to improve and possibly could be needed indefinitely. Only time will tell.
This is all happening after the birth his son Baby Jay just a few weeks earlier and named after Cameron’s brother Jaylyn, that we lost just a little over two years ago. All was right in the world for him again with the love of his life Kelcie, his son Kolson, and the new baby after the grief he had been through after losing his brother.
Cameron is a hustler, and works as much as possible either pipelining or using his truck and trailer to hot shot when he is between pipeline gigs. The man is not afraid to get dirty!
If you can help that would be amazing and if you can’t just send a prayer up for him or reach out to him, Kelcie, his mother Jennifer, or his sister Abby to send well wishes.
Any monies raised will be deposited directly into Cameron’s bank account and he and Kelcie will control how it is used to pay expenses.
We as his family, extended family, and friends love this man and we all are going to help consistently but after being approached by so many people wanting to help this is the easiest way to get it to Cameron.
