Let's help Carla get her smile back!

Hey Friends,

We want to tell you about our amazing friend, Carla Aspinwall. In 2015, she was diagnosed with Basal Cell Carcinoma and Melanoma. She had surgery to remove the tumors from her face and back. Carla was prescribed a new drug (Erivedge) for skin cancer and had to take it for twelve months. The treatments she underwent to stop the growth of the tumor caused her to lose all of her hair and sense of taste. She was told that she would most likely suffer from weakened bones, a compromised immune system, tooth decay, tooth loss and other chemo related effects. After a year, her first tooth cracked and broke. She went to the dentist and he told her that all the nerves were dead most likely from the chemo that she took. For the last nine years, we have seen Carla’s dental health decline. Decay and loss have progressed faster than she could replace partials and repair damage. She is now facing a situation where, for health reasons and the danger of risk of infection that could affect her heart and other organs, she must have a complete tooth extraction. This is going to be a lengthy process for her but she is so strong and brave and more than ready to get this done, not only for her health but to also smile again with confidence.

The cost for the procedures to keep Carla healthy and give her the smile she used to have and is so deserving of is way more than she can afford, but we are working to acquire funds to make this happen soon before she must suffer more from not just bad chemo teeth, but no teeth. Once the teeth are removed, the bone in the jaw deteriorates rapidly, even faster for someone who has had chemo.

In these tough times with many of us struggling, we hate having to ask for help but we are hoping that even small donations will add up and help to get this done for Carla while it is still an option.
