Christina Advocated for the Underserved Population & Now We Need to Fight for Her. Pandemic Frontline Healthcare Worker & Immunologically Compromised Cardiac Patient terminated for her medical conditions after risking her own life to help COVID19+ patients. Christina is a social worker with two Masters Degrees from University of Southern California. For the last almost seven years, Christina has dedicated herself to building and maintaining a very successful social work program at work centered in loving kindness and clinical excellence to help underserved patients cope with their medical illnesses. Christina has been doing this all while suffering with her own severe medical conditions herself. Unfortunately, during her employment, Christina's medical conditions got worse and became life threatening and limiting. When she stands up, her legs and feet turn purple, and she falls down and loses consciousness. Due to her medical condition, her husband quit his job to be her primary caregiver & drives her to the hospital multiple times each week. While her health condition got worse, her dedication to her client's only became stronger. Christina was so dedicated to her clients that she even worked from her infusion chair at the hospital while treating for her own health conditions.
In August 2022, despite Christina's dedication to her client's, Christina's employer terminated her after Christina requested accommodations for her medical conditions so that she may continue to provide the same quality healthcare to her patients. Christina's employer took away her pay within 24 hours. Now, without a job and without healthcare, Christina cannot afford treatment for her medical conditions.
Christina is in three studies with ten specialists at Cedar-Sinai so doctors can learn how to prevent this from happening to others. Just one of her medications for heart failure is $800 a month. Christina is still giving back to her community during this critical time. Helping others is what she has always done. Now it is our time to help her. Life is expensive. Let's take some of the pressure off and help cover expenses for both medical out of pocket needs and life!
