Let's Help Cory Gray Get Back to the Studio!
Donation protected
You don’t have to know Cory well to love him. He is a gem of a human whose presence invites openness, creativity, authenticity and confidence. This has served him so well in the recording studio, where he has captured so many magical tunes over the years.
On Christmas Eve 2022, a pipe burst above Cory’s studio in NE Portland, flooding his space from above. He was visiting family at the time and, due to the collapse of SouthWest airlines, was unable to get home for a few days. Good pals came and retrieved what they were able but the damage was extreme, resulting in the loss of much-beloved equipment (such as his Great Uncle’s baby grand piano). Cory has since pieced together a temporary setup with what he has. However, as he did not have flood insurance and is unable to work to his full capacity, it will be challenging for him to finance a move and rebuild without support.
Cory would pour a glass of red from his favorite bottle for a total stranger. His generosity is surpassed only by his humility. It took (a lot of) convincing for him to give the thumbs up for this GoFundMe. Thankfully, despite his unease, he is letting us pull this together. Should you appreciate Cory, his work or his craft, please contribute what you are able.
The goal for this fundraiser was estimated based on 3 months of lost wages, the cost to repair or replace equipment and the cost of a security deposit for a new space. All contributions will be applied towards building up a new studio in the months ahead. Link to spreadsheet for estimated costs
