Let’s help Crystal knock out this brain tumor!

In October 2022, Crystal learned that she has a brain tumor after experiencing her first seizure. A biopsy has now identified the tumor as a grade 2 oligodendroglioma. Her current treatment plan includes surgery to remove the tumor and several rounds of radiation and chemotherapy. With this treatment she will likely suffer permanent loss of feeling on the left side of her body, but doctors are optimistic that this is the best treatment plan for longevity and quality of life. At 34 years old with no significant prior medical history, this has been quite a shock to her and her family.

Over the past few months, Crystal and her family have endured battles with initially identifying the tumor, fighting insurance, finding the right doctors, a biopsy, continued seizures, and more. Crystal currently lives in Los Angeles as a freelance movie/television producer, and her entire family is on the east coast. Since learning of the tumor, Crystal’s family members have taken turns putting their lives on hold to care for her. Crystal has also had to, at times, reduce her freelance work while she receives treatment and deals with her condition. She and her family will continue to have to do this during treatment where she will undergo surgery, 6 weeks of radiation, 3-6 months of physical therapy, and 12 months of chemotherapy.

Crystal is a constant source of enthusiasm and light and fights for what she believes in. If you have Crystal on your side, you know you won’t go down without a fight. Now is our turn to step up to help fight with Crystal. She has not asked for anything, but I know there are so many of us that want to help and show support, so I created this to give everyone the opportunity to do just that.

These funds are intended to help her with medical expenses, disrupted work/career plans, cost of living while she endures treatment, and peace of mind.
