Let's help Dawn get back on her feet!

I want to tell you about a hard-working hairstylist who has already overcome so much in her life and is now facing a new challenge.

Dawn James is a 30-year master hairstylist working in Cincinnati, Ohio, and while in her chair, she does such great work to make every client look and feel their best.

Throughout the pandemic, she was super cautious in her personal life while also following all the CDC protocols in her salon space so that she never missed a day of work. Unfortunately, her work schedule would eventually expose her to the virus, no matter what she and her significant other did to stay safe in 2020. Although she fully recovered, her partner Scott would be diagnosed as a "long hauler," and Dawn made sure he got the necessary care to recover too.

That said, she continued to meet all our hair wants and needs and allowed us the time to release all of our personal and pandemic worries, frustrations, and tears. I shared all of that to convey how strong and independent this woman is and will unnecessarily struggle or suffer rather than ask for help.

On Saturday, February 12th, 2022, Dawn fell on black ice while trying to walk into a busy Saturday schedule. Gratefully, two women working in local businesses came to her aid and got her out of the roadway. And can I tell you what Dawn's reaction was? First, she questioned IF she could "go on upstairs, to at least, finish the day of appointments"; to then immediately call her scheduled clients, BEFORE getting herself looked at (because we know she isn't calling 911)!

The point of all of these details is that the fall resulted in a broken tibia and fibula at the ankle joint. The surgery will require a plate and screws and aftercare for the next 3 to 4mos. This is going to be a long recovery for Dawn because of her career and her determination to get back to work.

I know I am not the only client who knows she doesn't have health insurance to help cover this situation, and the surgery she is having on Monday, February 21, will be quite costly.

I thought we could all take this moment to show her just how resourceful the community she has built over the years can be for her too.

Thank you!
