Let’s help Effie get his top surgery!

Hello! Our incredible friend, Effie Morrison, needs our help paying for his gender affirming top surgery. His surgery is set for May 17th and will take place in Vermont, where Effie resides. Gender-affirming care such as this is expensive, but necessary. This surgery is life saving. Effie is not one to ask for help, so we are doing it for him! Effie is from Mississippi but now lives in Vermont. His one year anniversary of starting T just passed! If you have ever gotten the privilege to know and be close to Effie, then you know of his huge heart and his ability to make anyone feel loved and welcomed. As a friend, coach, captain, teacher, sibling, and a leader, Effie has never shied away from speaking up for his loved ones and lifting people up. He celebrates other people’s wins and inspires them to keep going. He is quick to give the warmest hugs and a shoulder to cry on. Effie is a compassionate and loving human and deserves to receive the support and love that he gives to others.

Part of Effie’s Story

“Growing up I always felt like I was a boy but was always reminded that I’m just a ‘tom boy.’ I never knew what being trans meant until I was older and honestly didn’t know everything it meant when I came out for the first time in 2019. I started researching and reading other people’s stories and knew exactly why I felt so terrible in my body my whole life. Coming out as trans was so easy for me ‘cause I felt like myself finally. I came out to my family in 2019 and was supposed to start T but got scared of all the things, (shots, hate, what if I’m wrong, [etc.]) ignored it all for a long time. Then, in 2022, I started therapy again and started T in April of 2022. Seeing my body and mind change has been amazing.”

Liz’s Testimony

I met Effie through Syd. From the start he treated me like family and made me feel seen. I began to learn more about him and saw the way he showed up for his people, his family. His loyalty and willingness to be there in a heartbeat, even when it was not deserved. He has such a huge heart and he brings out the best in people. Seeing him and syd together is such a joy, even when they’re rolling on the ground fighting Oh and if you ever meet Effie, be prepared to laugh your ass off. I feel so honored to get to witness every part of his journey. Trans people are so so special and so sacred. The journey, the obstacles, that they have to go through, just to live life as their truest selves, so many could not fathom. Their presence in a society that wants to get rid of them is radical, it’s explosive. I treasure my trans loved ones so deeply. I treasure Effie. This surgery will get him one step closer to his true form. It is crucial. Please do what you can

Sydney’s testimony

I’ve known Effie since we were children. We played soccer together as kids and eventually through out high school. He was always outspoken and a natural leader. Even off the field. As we got into high school, we grew closer in friendship and he always made an effort to make sure I felt included. Effie was the first person I came out as gay to and made me feel seen and understood the more I came out to the rest of my peers. He has always shown up for his friends and family and provided support in many ways. I can’t express the impact he has had and continues to have on my life and those around him. To know Effie is a privilege and I could not be more proud to be his friend. He needs this surgery so that he can feel like his authentic self. He deserves to feel as full and valid as he’s helped so many others to feel.
