Let’s help Gracie (cat) recover after being shot
The night of Tuesday, June 1, 2021 our beloved cat, Gracie didn’t come home....on the morning of Wednesday, June 2, 2021 a phone call was received from a Vet located in New Hyde Park, they had been able to scan Gracie for a microchip and get our contact information. At that time we were told Gracie had been shot twice, 2, .22 caliber bullets, one in the spine and the other floating under the skin of the back leg. Living in a moderate working class neighborhood this news was disturbing, things like this are not a common occurrence in this neighborhood. We came to find out that our neighbor, Michelle directly behind us noticed Gracie crying as she came back from a walk with her family around 8:45pm. Michelle then contacted another neighbor Mara who is a vet . Without hesitation came to the rescue, Mara kept Gracie the night and took Gracie with her to work in the morning. At that time it was confirmed that Gracie had been shot, two times. It was then decided that Gracie needed to seek a specialist. We arrived to Gracie at 1:30 where they provided us with a carrier and we were on our way to Plainview to see the surgeon. Gracie’s odds are 50/50, it’s determined she will never jump again, she may struggle to properly walk if at all. Gracie is part of our family, Gracie is known around the neighborhood for taking a walk with us and our 3 children and 2 dogs. We are so thankful to our Glen Cove Police department for taking this seriously and all we want is our cat home and our family whole again. Her surgery will be tomorrow, June 3, 2021, we ask that Gracie be kept in prayer. We thank the support from our community, it’s been so unbelievable. All donations would be truly be greatly appreciated.
