Let’s help Grandpa Dave!

Hey everyone! I’m here in hopes to lighten Grandpa Dave’s financial burden a little. He is down on his luck and his truck has broke down once again. He still owes almost $3,500 on the truck and I would love for him to be able to pay it off as he is still paying $350 a month for it for another year. His living situation is also unstable, as he hasn’t signed a “lease” but is renting a garage apartment from someone who could move out or choose to rent it to someone else at anytime. His current rent is $500 a month and with his bills and lifestyle, he can’t afford more much more with no savings to move into any where in a pinch. So this is another plea for help, if there is anywhere anyone knows with stable housing or you yourself have a mother in law apartment awaiting a quiet, unruly tenant please reach out.
As if that isn’t enough, if you’ve known Grandpa Dave long enough, you’d know he is in remission from Colon Cancer that came about in 2016. He recently is showing symptoms that it’s coming back, or he is battling health issues that the previous cancer led to. These bills are also piling up and it’s an added stress that is causing him some pretty serious anxiety, also effecting his health.
We all know “Grandpa Dave” as he is a regular at most restaurants in town [Port Angeles]. Most know his familiar, friendly face as someone to talk to at the bar or someone who tips his servers, bartenders, and baristas with more than he should; but he loves to do it. He also was a volunteer as a Gaurdian ad litem being an advocate for kids in the foster system for a few years here in Port Angeles during his retirement. His kind, giving nature has really earned a spot in most people he meets hearts because he honestly would do anything for anyone. He has gone above and beyond for my family and I’d like to set the stage for his community to help take care of him.
In full transparency, Dave will not be changing his lifestyle and I haven’t really asked him to. He has made a family out of the restaurant community here and that is what brings him joy. He will still sit at the end of the bar and drink a beer or two and probably still tip well because he loves to talk to people and be around people. This isn’t a “digging him out of a gigantic hole” fund, this is more of a giving a Grandpa a hand up in a tough situation as an 82 year old man who lives on his own and the stresses keep adding up.
Just another note, this Grandpa also still works a job cleaning at the Elwha RV and campground because he loves to still work and keep busy but he also needs the extra funds per month. So Grandpa Dave isn’t sitting around doing nothing; if he isn’t helping me, he is busy out there working hard for a little over minimum wage.
He has all taken care of us in the restaurant world, it’s time for us to take care of him! Please consider donating and if all you can do is share this that is a huge help also
