Isaac and his wife came to Canada along with their 2-year-old daughter on visitor visas on November 19, 2018. His purpose of travel was to get the best training for his profession as a body builder. Isaac is an established athlete who has been joining body building competitions internationally. He was invited to come to Canada by IFBB Prologue. He won a Silver Medal in Thailand for the World Body Building Championship in 2012, as well as a Silver Medal in the Brazil Worldwide Championship in 2014. In 2016, he got Gold medal at the World Championship in Kuwait, as well as the overall worldwide winner. He also become a member of IFBB Pro.
Six months prior to their arrival to Canada, Issac started developing severe headaches. He sought out medical help in Iran and specialists ordered brain MRIs which came back as normal. Three different specialists in Iran confirmed that his issue was simply migraine attacks. They prescribed a basic headache medication and sent him away. Shortly after their arrival in Canada, Issac started having unbearable headaches. On November 24, he woke up with an excruciating headache, so painful that he couldn’t even see properly. He was brought to the NORTH YORK GENERAL HOISPITAL ER and found out through a CT scan that there was something unusual happening with his brain. This moment would flip his life upside down. He was transferred to St. Michael’s Hospital in Downtown Toronto where he was informed that he has an abscess in his brain which needs to be removed as soon as possible.
They operated on his brain on November 25th. There, doctors found out that the mess in his brain is actually not an abscess or infection but a tumor. Everyone was shocked when a biopsy later confirmed that it is ADVANCED STAGE SARCOMA BONE CANCER that started from his skull. According to the neurosurgeon, the tumor on his brain got spared to the major vein, which takes the blood and oxygen to the brain. Later on, the oncologist found close to a dozen lesions on both his right and left hipbones which robbed him of his ability to walk on his own. He has been restricted to a wheelchair as there is a high risk of a hipbone fracture if he walks. The cancer has also spread to his pancreas as well as his liver. Isaac would visit the doctor frequently in Iran for standard medical check-ups as part of his profession, and not once was there any tumor detected by his doctors.
Isaac who, two weeks ago was athletic, active and enjoyed running around and playing with his daughter has been bound to a wheelchair and told that his days are numbered. The cancer has taken over his entire body and is consuming him completely. Unfortunately, specialty hospitals in Canada requires him to deposit money before they take him in which costs $200,000 Canadian. Although; they purchased Travel Insurance in Iran unfortunately, the insurance company did not cover anything as they believe this was the preexisting condition even though all the medical reports from Iran indicates that Issac was completely healthy.
In only a few weeks, the total money they have had to spend is $13,000 CAD just for the surgery fee and $1,800 just for the ER registration. This does not include the daily hospital room fees ($2000-$2500/day) and CT Scans ($1500 each session), medicines, and other exams done which already have amounted to $70,000. The surgeon informed them that they would need more than half a million Canadian dollars for the treatment of his cancer.
There are no words to describe what this young family is going through. Issac is only 31 years old. His wife Niloufar, 27, is looking after him while their beautiful 2-year-old daughter is left with a relative who had to sign her up at a daycare, so confused about the things going on around her. They could have never even imagined that this happy vacation would suddenly take such a miserable turn.
The family is desperately asking for help to raise funds for Issac’s medical treatment, tests, and examinations. He has to do chemotherapy and radiation as soon as possible and they need to raise the money to start his treatment. With the advanced condition of his disease, it is not advisable for him to go back to Iran. He also has a much better chance in Toronto’s medical facilities.
This family is in need of so much help and we are asking everyone to please make a donation of any amount they can to make it possible for him to get treatment as soon as possible. Please help us make Issac treatment a possibility so he can be a father to his child and a part of his family’s life. Thank you so much.
