Let's help Jay get his life back

Dear Friends and Family,
As some of you may know, my son is battling multiple mental health issues including PTSD, addiction recovery, ADHD, and unipolar disorder. He has been struggling with these challenges for a long time and it has been an uphill battle for both of us.
Despite our efforts to seek help through both private and government-funded insurance, we have found that coverage is severely limited when it comes to long-term residential treatment programs. The reality is that mental health insurance only pays a maximum of 7-28 days, which is not enough time for my son to truly recover and heal.
That's why I am reaching out to you all for support. I am raising $21,000 for my son's mental health recovery journey, which requires him to undergo a 6-12 month residential treatment program. These programs are expensive, and as a single mother, I simply cannot afford it on my own. Last year, I paid for all of his care totalling $41,000 - depleting my savings.
To give you an idea of how much residential programs are, here are a few examples:
Ranch House Recovery, TX 10,000 per month
Spring Lake Ranch, VT $13,500 per month
Gould Farm, MA $12,000 per month
Mental Health Center of San Diego, CA $55,000 per month (not a typo, you read that right)
As you can see there is a significant range in cost and unless we have private insurance, the only option is to pay upfront. Private insurance is available through employer back programs and sadly working a full-time normal job is not possible when someone is in a mental health crisis. Additionally, because my son is over the age of 26 he cannot be covered by my insurance.
He has attended government-funded recovery programs in San Francisco and San Diego, however, they are not equipped to manage medications or offer in-depth therapeutic services and life skills training. The other side is that straightforward mental health facilities, while equipped to handle medications, do not offer holistic approaches to care which include life skills, and clean calm environments. Due to a lack of funding and other restrictions, all patients regardless of their diagnosis are lumped in the same living quarters and group sessions. Some patients are in such debilitated states that it's difficult for someone in-between severity to fully feel safe and recover.
After researching his options, my son chose this type of program because he recognizes that he needs a long-term, comprehensive approach to overcome his mental health challenges and build a foundation for a healthy and fulfilling life. With the right care and support, he has a vision for his future that includes stability, success, and happiness. He’s a natural leader, an artist, a musician and all-around gentle and loving human. A residential treatment program will provide him with the tools and resources he needs to achieve his goals and will help him develop the skills and coping mechanisms necessary to manage his mental health challenges in a healthy and sustainable way. By supporting his journey toward recovery, we can help him achieve his vision and help get his life back!
What's included in the residential program in Vermont is comprehensive care while he heals and recovers:
*24/7 supervision and support from trained medical professionals and mental health experts.
*Individualized treatment plans, tailored to each patient's specific needs and challenges.
*Medication management and monitoring.
*Group therapy sessions and individual therapy sessions.
*Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and other evidence-based therapies.
*Holistic treatment based on nature: farming, gardening and taking care of the grounds.
*Nutritious meals and dietary counseling.
*Physical fitness and exercise programs including yoga and meditation.
*Educational and vocational training programs to help patients prepare for life after treatment.
*Aftercare planning and support, including outpatient therapy and ongoing monitoring.
The cost of these programs reflects the comprehensive care and support they offer throughout my son's stay. Additionally, the cost of running a residential treatment program includes expenses such as staff salaries, facilities maintenance and upgrades, and equipment and supplies, which can add up quickly.
My son's mental health is of utmost importance to me, and I am determined to do everything in my power to help him get the treatment he needs. With your support, we can give my son a fighting chance to overcome his mental health challenges and rebuild his life.
I am thankful for any contribution you can make to this campaign. Your donation will go directly toward his treatment program and will help him get the care he needs.
The fact that he wants this as much as I do is a huge breakthrough. I hope that you will support him.
Thank you for your love, generosity, and support.
Sincerely,
Vanessa
