Support Jenny - Empowering a Resilient Mother in El Salvador

Hello, my name is Veronika. Earlier this year, during my travels in El Salvador, I met Jenny, a woman who left a deep impression on me. Jenny runs a small tavern in Taquillo where she serves incredible home-cooked meals, including pupusas, a traditional Salvadoran dish.

During my stay, my friend and I became regulars at her tavern—not just for the delicious $3 meals but for the warmth and kindness Jenny showed us. Over many meals, she shared her story: she sold her father’s house to purchase the property for her tavern. Her dream is to grow her business, starting with building a proper toilet for her guests, and eventually opening a small bed and breakfast.

Her determination moved us, and we decided to help. We organized a pupusa-making workshop with other travelers from our hostel, raising $240. This allowed Jenny to finally build the much-needed toilet for her tavern. Seeing her pride and happiness that day was unforgettable.

Jenny is a humble, hardworking mother of two and the sole breadwinner for her family. Like many women in El Salvador, she faces significant challenges running a business. She is shy and reserved, often downplaying her capabilities. But during the pupusa workshop, seeing others value her skills and culture brought a glow of confidence to her eyes.

Unfortunately, Jenny’s journey has hit a difficult roadblock. In August, she was hospitalized with a severe kidney infection and was unable to work for two months. With no income during that time, she had to spend her savings just to feed her children.

We’re raising funds to help Jenny reopen her tavern, rebuild her savings, and continue pursuing her dream. This is about more than reopening her business—it’s about empowering a resilient woman to achieve her goals and inspire others in her community.

Even the smallest contribution can make a big difference. For just $2—the price of a coffee—you can help Jenny take another step toward her dream. Let’s share a coffee with Jenny today and show her that she’s not alone.

Your generosity can provide Jenny with the support she needs to rebuild her business and her confidence. Together, we can help her create a better future for herself, her children, and her community.

I am aiming to raise €1,000 to give Jenny the support she needs to reopen her tavern and prepare for the upcoming summer season in El Salvador. Typically, Jenny invests around $600 each week to cover costs like food, beverages, electricity, and water. With a 40% profit margin, she earns an average of $240 per week.

This fundraiser will provide Jenny with the financial push to restock supplies, cover operating costs, and restart her business after months of recovery. Reaching this goal will not only help her get back on her feet but also set her up for a successful season ahead. Funds are being collected in Spain and will be transferred directly to Jenny.

Thank you so much for your support—it means the world.
