Let’s Help Jonny Wexler Get His Life Back

Hello friends,
Jonny Wexler needs our HELP!!
You may know Jonny as a performer, singing and dancing all over North America. Back-flipping off pianos. Breakdancing. Tumbling. Maybe you’ve seen him as Moe Doodle in Disney’s The Doodlebops. We both met Jonny while performing in Jersey Boys. Through living, working, and traveling together non-stop for 2 years, we got to know him as someone who loves his friends like family and treats them with lavish warmth and generosity. Jonny is a one-of-a-kind person who brings people together. He’s fun. He’s wise. He’s hilarious. Everything is better when Jonny is a part of it. He’s taught us so much about love and friendship – and about what’s truly important in life. He is the type of loyal friend who can be relied upon to help us through our tough times, but now he needs our help.
Tragically, in 2019 while performing as Frankie, Jonny injured his back. Over the last three years he has had to endure constant pain, been put under anesthesia 10 times and had two failed major back surgeries, the most recent being the insertion of an artificial disc. Unfortunately, the prosthetic disc has failed and isn’t working correctly.
He is now unable to carry out normal daily activities like sitting, driving or even putting on his own clothes, let alone performing. He has been forced to spend most of his days lying down, leaving home only for short walks, or to be transported to medical appointments. This loss of basic day to day human function has been soul-crushing.
In January of 2022, Jonny will have another chance at getting his life back and this is where we are asking for your help. After months of uncertainty and meetings with dozens of surgeons in the US and Europe, Jonny has found a team who can remove the artificial disc and fuse the damaged segments.
This type of revision surgery is expected to take 8-10 hours and is EXTREMELY dangerous, complex, and expensive. There are only a handful of surgeons in the world experienced enough to do it and while his care has been covered by workers compensation up until this point, this surgical team simply does not accept it.
Please let’s help him get through this together. This is one of those “any amount helps” kinds of situations. Let’s get Jonny back on the long road to recovery. Thank you for anything you can do.
Love,
Jonathan and Caitlin
