Help Support Zack McKinley in His Fight Against Cancer

Hi, my name is Joel, and I’m setting up this GoFundMe for one of the best people I’ve ever known—my good friend Zack McKinley.

Zack is the kind of person who always puts others before himself. Even now, after receiving the most difficult news of his life, he continues to show up with a positive attitude and think about everyone else before himself. That’s just the kind of guy he is—compassionate, selfless, and full of light. He’s been a constant source of positivity for his friends, co-workers, and everyone lucky enough to know him.

Unfortunately, Zack will not be able to return to work this year as he continues his fight against cancer. That’s why I’m organizing this fundraiser—to help take the financial burden off his shoulders so he can focus on healing and getting back to the life he deserves.

Zack’s journey began two years ago when he started having stomach issues at work. After a colonoscopy, he received a life-changing diagnosis: colon cancer at the young age of 31. He immediately began radiation that fall, followed by chemotherapy in the winter. When the cancer didn’t respond as hoped, doctors were forced to remove part of his colon.

There was a moment when we all believed the worst was behind him. His friends and coworkers celebrated what we hoped was the end of a difficult chapter. But the cancer came back—more aggressive than before.

Over the past year and a half, Zack has endured more chemotherapy, a complete removal of his rectum, and devastating news that the cancer had spread to his lower back, and a tube near his kidneys, and bladder. Despite everything, Zack—now 33 years old—remains hopeful and determined to beat this.
