Help Radek Parez & Family- Life & Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Thank you for your continued support of Radek Parez, his wife Monique, and their two daughters, Maddie and Alexis. It is an incredible thing to have met a milestone goal of $50k so quickly. Thanks to everyone who has shared, contributed and held positive thoughts and prayers for their family. Words can't express the depth of gratitude.
As many of you know, Radek had a significant ski accident in March 2023 and is on a long road to recovery. Short-term disability pay is not available to him. Thus, monies raised supplement his loss of income for an extended period and have helped cover the deductibles on his current medical insurance plan.

Radek's progress has been dependent upon multiple major surgeries; The first to initially stabilize his right leg after the accident. The second and longest surgery was to reconstruct the leg which had been fractured in nine places. The most recent surgeries in late May addressed an infection that had developed, and the skin graft that became necessary due to excessive swelling and the inability to close the incision. The skin and tissues needed for the graft were removed from his upper left leg. An extended hospital stay along with time spent in the ICU was required.

Continued Requests: Please continue to share this fundraising link within your social networks. Your generosity has helped ease an immediate financial burden and has also shown the strength of compassion, friendship and community. In the coming weeks, the giving goal may be updated to reflect specific needs. Again, thank you for your tremendous support of Radek and his family during this challenging time. Prayers and positive thoughts for all involved are among the biggest requests at this time.

Knowing Radek: Before his accident, Radek often put in 45-hour weeks of tennis instruction and professional coaching. Many of us have taken lessons and clinics with Radek at The PCMarc, have kids in the after-school tennis programs or know his family through the Catholic Church (St. Mary's in Park City and St. Lawrence Mission in Heber), the Wasatch County School District, and Coach Mike's Tennis Academy (Liberty Hills Tennis) down in Salt Lake City where he used to teach. Some of you may also know Radek from California when he coached at the North Ranch Country Club and Top Seed Tennis Academy. On and off the court Radek’s self-discipline, honor, humility and faith are evident every day in his words and actions.

We are ready for this stellar coaching team to reunite!
Radek's wife, Monique, is finishing a teaching degree and will be enthusiastically welcomed on a teaching team for the 2023-2024 school year. They have two young daughters, Maddie and Alexis and a sweet dog named Montana.
Timeline:
Sunday, March 19, 2023- Radek was skiing at PCMR and caught an edge coming off the top of McConkeys Bowl. His left ski released but the right ski did not. He tumbled fifty yards down the mountain, fracturing the tibial plateau and displacing the meniscus. He also broke his tibiofibular joint and tore both his ACL and MCL ligaments in the right knee. He had emergency surgery directly after the accident to stabilize his right leg.

Friday, April 7th- Radek underwent an intensive second surgery to reconstruct his leg. After more than seven hours, the orthopedic trauma team at the University of Utah emerged having implanted five titanium plates and multiple screws in the leg. These plates and screws will work to hold the bones together as they regrow. The lead surgeon, Dr. Thomas Higgins, was also able to successfully repair the ligaments in Radek's knee.
Thursday, May 18th- commenced a week of multiple surgeries as an infection in the leg was suspected. To clear the infection surgery was performed which then resulted in an inability to close the incision due to swelling. Ultimately a skin graft was needed. Tissues and skin from the upper left leg were gifted to the right.

Friday, May 26th- Back home for continued care and recovery.

Thank you again for your continued support and generosity.
