Bothers and Sisters-

This is Ralph.

He is a Husband, a Father and a Letter  Carrier out of St. Louis Park, MN.  On November 21st, Ralph pulled up to some cluster boxes and put his LLV in park and shut it off.  While he was delivering, he heard some police sirens getting closer and before he knew it, he was struck by a person who was being chased by the police.   This person was in a Chevy Tahoe traveling at a rate of over 70 miles per hour!  He was hit head on pushing the LLV *several yards backwards and then it rolled onto the right side.

He did have his lap belt on.

He does not remember much after that  but was told by those who pulled him out from under the LLV, that he was unconscious until the Paramedics arrived.

He was then taken in to have x-rays done to find that he has a fractured bone in his right wrist, a torn ACL in his right knee, broken chest bone, internal bleeding in his lower abdomen, injury to his forehead along with many, many cuts and is in intense pain to which is being managed the best they can with pain medications.

His first (of many)  surgery is scheduled for December 18th on his wrist and is scheduled for PT 3 times a week.

He is the sole provider for his family and will be out of work for a long time.

While  USPS pays you your regular paycheck for the first 45 days.  After that, you have to wait for your Workers Comp case to go through, which can be a long and difficult process. Unless everything goes smoothly (usually it doesn't, and there are delays) you end up with zero income until the case goes through, which could be weeks.

Also, you only get paid 66 percent of your regular pay, or 75 percent if you have a qualified dependent.

Needless to say, just when you need it the most you could be stuck with nothing.

In the case of another coworker who sustained a broken wrist from a fall while on the job,  she was without income for almost 2 months!

We all know that can really set a person behind and put them into some tough spots!

Lets help Ralph out and help to be able to put his mind at ease while he's recovering.

If you can’t help out financially, I'm certain he and his family would accept prayers for 100% healing, keeping his pain to a minimum and thankfulness that he is still here.

Thank you all.
