Let’s help Roy get a Hole in One!

Mulligan (noun) - definition: It is best known in the game of golf whereby a mulligan is a second chance to perform an action/shot, usually after the first chance went wrong through bad luck or a blunder.

As most of you are aware, Roy Abbenbroek, one of the Associate Golf Professionals for over 20+ years at the Seymour Golf and Country Club was diagnosed in Late February 2023 with throat cancer. Since that time, he has gone through all types of testing, scans, scopes and an intensive regime of treatment . The last 6 months have been anything but easy for Roy. Not only has he struggled with all the physical side effects from his treatment but he has also missed his golf community so much and the daily connection and friendships that he has created over the last 22 years.

While Roy has been bravely taking on this battle, he has been unable to work at his job as a golf pro and we know he is eager to rebuild his strength and get back to the job he loves so much. In the meantime, we wanted to give Roy the time he needs to heal completely and also show Roy how much he is missed and means to this golf community by starting this online fundraiser! A little goes a long way to help someone on such an arduous journey!

P.S. Roy met with his radiologist last Friday. Using a camera, they examined his throat and were excited to tell him that they could no longer see the tumour! Obviously, this is fabulous news and Roy is anxious to see confirmation of this when more detailed testing, (CT & PET scans) are scheduled for mid-September.
